In-Company Compassionate Self Leadership Workshop for Sales Teams

In any work environment there are tensions, the area of sales is no exception. More specifically, there are three kinds:
- Practical or process tensions: e.g. technology that is not functioning properly (e.g. no access to your e-mails via your smartphone), too much administration or a change in the law that has an impact (e.g. GDPR).
- Personal tensions: e.g. stress related to giving a presentation, cold calling or networking; fear for failure (not reaching the target) or success; self-criticism.
- Interpersonal tensions: e.g. frustration with a prospect or customer (who cancels meetings, doesn’t reply to phone calls, forgets to sign the proposal) or frictions with the sales manager, team members or colleagues from other departments.
Tension is seen by human beings as negative and undesirable. The most used strategy is to avoid it or push it away. But that doesn’t eliminate the root of the tension, causing that tension to reappear in one way or another.
It also stops most (sales) people from reaching their full goals and their full potential.
Hence the Compassionate Self Leadership workshop for Sales Teams that offers the insights, tips, tools and techniques to change this.
Result
After the workshop the participants will be able to:
- Quickly get into balance whenever they feel tension with a prospect, customer, manager, colleague or anyone else. As a result the situation won’t escalate and new ideas and solutions will pop up.
- Solve personal tensions in a few minutes: remove the stress from giving a presentation, cold calling or approaching people at a network event.
- Get insights why there is no click with a prospect. This opens doors for a new approach of the conversation and an improvement of the relationship.
- Discover (hidden) talents and positive qualities. And which growth potential is available.
- Detect blind spots and sabotage mechanisms. One of the most important reasons why sales people don’t reach their goal is that they push on the gas pedal and brake the same time. By discovering the brakes, the first step to a better performance is taken.
- Transform disbalances between talents (gas pedals) and sabotage mechanisms (brakes) in an easy and fast way so they can face challenges (even) better.
- Restart the conversation with the person they felt tension with in a new way. In that way the situation is defused and the foundation for a fruitful future collaboration with customers or team members is built. Or the opportunity is created to end the relationship in a constructive way, without burning any bridges.
- For relationships within the company (manager, team members, colleagues from other departments):
- Clearly express their own needs in a way the other person knows what he or she can do to support them.
- Listen and speak in a constructive way with improved relationships and new ideas and solutions as a result.
The reason why this is called a Compassionate Self Leadership workshop is that compassion is needed to look at personal and interpersonal tensions.
Being open to the discovery of tensions and being able to transform them creates an upward spiral that leads to improved relationships, more self-confidence, improved performance, more well-being and better results.
Framework
During the workshop we use the framework of the D.U.E.T. method and apply the appropriate tools and techniques for each step:
- Detect and face the tension.
- Understand and solve the tension.
- Embrace and transform the root of the tension.
- Take action.
The tools and techniques are designed to support the participants to do most of the work by themselves. This ensures that the stress that is related to contact with prospects, customers or colleagues is not present, making it easier to explore the underlying motives and causes.
Format
- There are two formats:
- 2 day workshop with half day follow up 6 weeks later
- 6 half day sessions every 3 to 4 weeks
- There are no specific requirements to attend this workshop. The only one is that the participants are willing to do some self-reflection.
- We work with the situations and live cases of the participants.
